Successful Edible Gardening Workshop
TYLER, Texas — East Texas gardeners interested in growing, using, and enjoying edible plants are invited to attend “Successful Edible Gardening,” a free educational program hosted by the Smith County Master Gardeners on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Tyler’s Rose Center Complex. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program running from 9 a.m. until noon.
The morning will feature three presentations designed to help gardeners make the most of their fall gardens and edible landscapes.
Smith County Master Gardener Elizabeth Waldrop will begin the program with “Taste of Texas: Herbs to Brighten Your Plate and Landscape” from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Waldrop will discuss herbs that provide both culinary and ornamental value in East Texas gardens.
From 10 to 10:50 a.m., Greg Grant, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulturist for Smith County, will present “Fall Vegetable Gardening.” Grant will cover timely practices for establishing and maintaining productive fall vegetable gardens in East Texas.
At 11 a.m., Smith County Master Gardener Gary Gardner will present “History of the Heritage Rose Garden,” highlighting the background and significance of this special collection. The presentation will be followed by a guided tour of the Heritage Garden at 11:30 a.m.
The program is free and open to the public, but participants are encouraged to register in advance using the link or QR code provided on the event flyer.
