The Nacogdoches County Master Gardeners will be traveling by bus to Forest Hill, Louisiana — home to some of the region’s most renowned wholesale and retail nurseries.

Planned stops include Sam Stokes Nursery, Poole Brothers Nursery, and Doug Young Nursery. Additional nursery visits may be added if time allows.

This trip is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, providing participants the opportunity to tour well-known nurseries that ship quality plants throughout the region. In addition to learning more about plant production and selection, the day will offer a great opportunity for fellowship and networking with fellow garden enthusiasts.

The tour has been coordinated in partnership with a Louisiana horticulture agent, and a full agenda has been planned, including a scheduled lunch stop (see attachments). Participants will be responsible for purchasing their own lunch.

The trip will take place on April 21, 2026. We will depart at 6:00 a.m. from the Nacogdoches County Annex / AgriLife Extension Office and plan to return at approximately 3:30 p.m. The cost is $65 per person.

We currently have a limited number of seats available and would like to invite additional garden enthusiasts to join us. We will be traveling on a 48-passenger coach, and seating will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats will be secured once payment is received in our office.
