2026 East Texas Annual & Perennial Plant Trials
June 25 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join us at the annual East Texas Annual & Perennial Plant Trials, which will be held on Thursday, June 25th, at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research & Extension Center at Overton. The trials provide homeowners, Master Gardeners, greenhouse and nursery growers and professional landscapers with the opportunity to observe hundreds of varieties of new annual and perennial plants grown in their locale.
Dr. Andrew King, assistant professor of ornamental horticulture, is overseeing this year’s trials, which include vinca, petunia, mandevilla, pentas, lantana, and an emphasis on perennial crops like salvia, rudbeckia, and many more.
Attendees will be asked to provide feedback on the plants they prefer for both in-ground planting and ornamental containers.
In-ground trials are located at the Research & Extension Center’s East Farm area (on CR 133/Don Leverett Rd), and container trials and a demonstration garden are at the Research & Extension Center. Both will be open to the public on the 25th from 9:00 to 11:30 am, followed by lunch from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The day will conclude with an educational session by Dr. King and Dr. Greg Grant, along with plant breeders and producers who will provide additional details about many of the plants from the trials. All are invited, and there is no fee for attendance; registration is required to attend lunch.
