SUMMARY:Growing Citrus Successfully in Containers and Cool Climates
DESCRIPTION:Nacogdoches\, TX– SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7:00 pm on July 10 in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center\, 2900 Raguet Street\, Nacogdoches.  Anna Timmerman\, Horticulture Extension Agent for LSU AgCenter\, will present “Growing Citrus Successfully in Containers and Cool Climates.” \nTimmerman has served with the LSU AgCenter for nine years and is currently stationed in the greater New Orleans area working with home gardeners\, farmers\, and green industry professionals. She holds a master’s degree from Louisiana State University from the School of Plant\, and Environmental\, and Soil Sciences\, having completed a thesis in containerized satsuma production. Timmerman grew up on a family farm in west Michigan and arrived in New Orleans in 2011 to work as a landscape contractor. It was a steep learning curve in a new climate full of interesting plant material. She eventually began an independent landscaping company focused on historical gardening and is a Louisiana licensed landscape horticulturalist and certified Louisiana nursery and landscape professional. Anna has been recently appointed as the LSU AgCenter State Citrus Point of Contact. \nThe Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the second Thursday of each month and includes a plant raffle after the program.  Attendance is free and open to the public\, and donations to the lecture series fund are always appreciated.  Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center or next door at Raguet Elementary School\, 2708 Raguet St. \nFor more information\, call (936) 468-4129 or email sfagardens@sfasu.edu.
