These courses are designed to provide structured\, research-based education to help beekeepers build knowledge and progress through the Texas Master Beekeeper Program. \nCourse details: \n\n10-week guided online course\nWeekly modules and lessons\nSelf-paced access with scheduled weekly progression\nSuitable for all beekeepers\n\nRegistration links: \n\nApprentice Level\n\nRequirements: None\nSession Day: Mondays\nTime: 9 a.m. – noon\nDates: February 16 – April 20\, 2026\n\n\nAdvanced Level\n\nRequirements: Took Apprentice Level\nSession Day: Tuesdays\nTime: 9 a.m. – noon\nDates: February 17 – April 21\, 2026\n\n\n\nBoth courses are now hosted on the new permanent AgriLife Learn platform\, where participants will have indefinite access to course materials. DESCRIPTION:Texas A&M AgriLife to Host Mineola Nature Tour March 27 \nThe public is invited to experience one of East Texas’s most remarkable natural treasures during the upcoming Mineola Nature Preserve Tour\, scheduled (rain or shine) for Friday\, March 27\, 2026. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Preserve Pavilion\, followed by a guided walking tour from 10:00 a.m. to noon. \nLed by Greg Grant\, Ph.D.\, Smith County Horticulturist and award‑winning naturalist\, the tour will explore the preserve’s diverse native plants\, wildlife habitats\, and unique ecosystems. Grant will highlight how land‑use changes and thoughtful management shape the landscape\, offering participants an engaging look at the birds\, bees\, butterflies and everything in between. \nLocated at 1860 County Road 2724 in Mineola\, the 2\,900‑acre Mineola Nature Preserve is a premier outdoor destination\, featuring wetlands\, prairies\, woodlands\, and miles of scenic trails along the Sabine River. This guided tour provides a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of East Texas’s most respected naturalists while enjoying the preserve’s spring beauty. \nSpace is limited\, and early registration is encouraged. To reserve a spot\, call the Wood County Extension Office at (903) 763‑2924 or the Smith County Extension Office at (903) 590‑2980. Wear appropriate shoes as there will hiking and uneven terrain. With a rich heritage as a 4th-generation horticulturist in a family that has been active in the nursery industry for over 110 years\, Dr. King brings a wealth of knowledge to the session. His experience includes serving on the faculty in the Texas A&M Department of Horticultural Sciences and as the Assistant Director of SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University. \nDuring this seminar\, Dr. King will present “Plant Propagation\,” in which he will demonstrate essential propagation techniques\, including cuttings and seed sowing. Attendees will have the chance to get hands-on experience with propagating plants and will even take their newly propagated plants home. The 2026 From Bulbs to Blooms Conference and Sale is rapidly approaching. \nDetails of the event:\nOctober 12. 2026 – 7:00 am\, the online store opens and will feature hard-to-find heritage\, hardy\, and locally trialed bulbs\, as well as a variety of trees and shrubs. \nOctober 21\, 2026 – 10:00 pm\, the online store closes. \nOctober 24\, 2026 – 9:00 am\, the Free in-person Conference begins at Pollard United Methodist Church\, 3030 New Copeland Road\, Tyler. \nOctober 24\, 2026 – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm\, Order pickup and the Indoor Market at Pollard United Methodist Church\, 3030 New Copeland Road\, Tyler. We will have more bulbs\, garden artwork\, gardening books\, and our 2027 garden guide and calendar for sale as well as kids’ activities\, educational tables\, and of course lots of knowledgeable Master Gardener volunteers to help you shop. \nCall us at 903-590-2994 for additional information or questions. \nHope to see you there!
